Kindergarten Class Assistant

LOCATION

Hearts and Minds Learning Community is located in Roseville, Minnesota, next to Central Park. We have a large outdoor space and a small, dedicated indoor learning space.

DETAILS

The Hearts and Minds Learning Community is currently hiring is a class assistant for our mixed-age kindergarden program on a part-time, occasional basis (1-3 mornings/week).

The Kindergarten Class Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Assist early childhood education lead with classroom and activity set-up, when necessary.

  • Assist children with activities, indoors and outdoors

  • Provide supervision for children, indoors and outdoors

  • Assist with lunch set-up and supervise children during lunch (usually this involves reading them stories)

  • Assist early childhood education lead with getting kids ready for outdoors time and coming back indoors (the snowpants traffic jam is no joke!)

  • Collaborating with the early childhood education lead on an as-needed basis to identify any issues, share ideas, recommend solutions, etc.

    The Hearts and Minds Learning Community is located in Roseville, MN. This is an onsite position. HMLC is an outdoors-first learning environment and we spend as much time as possible outdoors, as the weather allows. The class assistant will need to be prepared for outdoor time with appropriate clothing (winter gear in the cold, a rain coat in the rain, for example).

    ***This position is currently part-time with occasional scheduling hours. There is a STRONG possibility the position will grow with our summer programming with up to 35 hours/week available Monday - Friday beginning in June 2023. It is also likely the position will continue (and potentially grow) through the 2023/2024 school year.***

SALARY AND EXPERIENCE

  • Pay range between $18-20/hour. We offer Paid Time Off (PTO).

  • Prior experience working with young children is preferred, but not required.

  • First aid and CPR certification preferred. If not currently certified, must be willing to become certified (online training sponsored by HMLC).

  • Due to the nature of the job working with children, a background check is required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • HMLC operates under a community care model. Several children and families in our program have high-risk medical conditions and all adults are required to wear N95 or KN95 masks while around the children at all times - indoors and outdoors.

  • Everyone, adults and children, are required to wear masks while indoors (unless eating or drinking).

  • All adults and children are required to be up to date on all vaccines to help protect the most vulnerable members of our community.
